Co-founder & CEO

Dr. Ben Maruthappu

Our story begins with Dr. Ben Maruthappu, a doctor and former NHS advisor, after a loved one required at-home care. Facing difficulties arranging the right care and seeing the challenges care workers face when balancing the need to provide quality care with heavy administrative burdens, Cera was born out of the idea that there must be a better way.

Horus Patel

Horus is an experienced and innovative data engineer, with significant experience in leading both the development of technologies and high performing teams. He is a committed and passionate leader who has worked on large technology rollouts affecting millions of users, and successfully led teams to deliver great value to the customer both through the delivery of data assets and product development.

Having completed a degree in computer software engineering, Horus rose up through the ranks of employment agency Reed, and left, as Director of Operations, to join Cera. Now, as Chief Technology Officer, Horus brings his wealth of experience to Cera to drive the company’s unique technology in reshaping the way Care is delivered in the UK. Horus is keen to develop software that helps people, is built with carers and service users at its center, and can really make a difference to the care sector, an industry in which technology is under-utilised.

Aside from this, and his generally keen interest in technology, Horus enjoys spending time with friends and family, in particular his two boisterous nephews.

Operations Director

Katie Furey

Having spent many years in financial services, I have to say the most rewarding part of my career has been the past 6.5yrs in Social Care.

Health and Social Care needs change and disruption, which is why I decided to join Cera in December 2020: the team is truly revolutionising care. My passion is to ensure we enable the highest quality of care which is affordable for everyone in society, and to create choices for people to remain in their own homes living longer, healthier lives. As one of the Operations Directors, I am not only passionate about the care we deliver but the amazing Carers and Branch colleagues who enable this to happen day in, day out.

I am also the strategic lead on Business Development which means I can fulfil another passion of mine, which is to look for new and exciting opportunities for the company. I want to ensure that Cera can continue to grow and deliver the highest quality services, and in doing so, build a sustainable future for our ageing population.

Outside of work I have 2 beautiful girls who keep me and my husband busy. I love fitness and have a regular group of friends that I train and socialise with.
